IMPIES claimed top spot on the Armidale District Netball Association when they thrashed Swifts by 34 goals on Saturday.
The reigning premiers leapfrogged ladder-leaders St Kilda Cougars, who forfeited their match against Pulse.
Impies president and goal shooter Alex Kentish said the challenge would be to hold on to top spot, with the club set to face the Cougars this Saturday.
“It’s going to be a tough game,” she said.
“We’ll be coming out pretty hard.”
Impies will be without two of their star bookends, with Sophie Sincock and Chelsea Schaefer unavailable this Saturday.
That will put pressure on Kentish and Sam Crick to find the net, while Jess Graham and Shane Pickett will be tasked to defend the Cougars’ goal shooters.
Graham was Impies’ best in their win against Swifts.
“She has been our most improved player this year,” Kentish said.
In the other division one match, the Ravens kept their finals hopes alive with a 36-33 win against NEGS.

The word Goaler is actually the goal keeper in ice hockey! The article refers to “goaler” more than once, the correct terminology is shooter or to be specific goal attack or goal shooter.
